Police Foil Fresh Bandits’ Attack In Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has foiled an attempted attack by suspected armed bandits on Guda Lamido Village in Kashere town, Akko Local Government Area of the state.
The command said the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, January 13, when the armed men attempted to invade the community.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the command received a distress report at about 4:00am, indicating that a group of armed bandits had mobilised in large numbers to attack the village.
“Upon receipt of the report, a joint patrol team comprising officers of the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups, and hunters swiftly mobilised and responded to the distress,” Abdullahi said.
According to him, the combined security team engaged the attackers and successfully repelled them.
“The team engaged the bandits and successfully repelled the attack, forcing the criminals to retreat into the surrounding forest,” he added.
The police spokesperson disclosed that no life was lost and no injuries were recorded during the encounter, noting that calm had since returned to the area.
He said, “No life was lost, and no injuries were sustained during the encounter. Normalcy has since been restored, and the area remains calm and peaceful.”
DSP Abdullahi said the command had intensified patrols and surveillance in and around the affected community to prevent any further security breach and to ensure the continued safety of residents.
He added that security operatives would maintain a strong presence in the area to deter any possible return of the fleeing bandits.
