Jones: Salah Apologizes To Liverpool Squad After Outburst

Liverpool midfielder, Curtis Jones, has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to his teammates following the controversy that trailed his explosive interview in which he criticised the club and its manager.

Jones disclosed this while speaking on the aftermath of the Egyptian forward’s comments, which sparked widespread debate among fans and pundits.

Salah had earlier accused Liverpool of “throwing him under the bus” and claimed he had no positive relationship with the club’s manager, Arne Slot.

The remarks did not go down well with sections of the club’s supporters and reportedly caused tension within the camp, leading to his omission from the squad shortly after the interview.

Following the backlash, the Egyptian forward was initially dropped from the matchday squad but later recalled.

He went on to feature in Liverpool’s victory over Brighton, suggesting that efforts had been made behind the scenes to restore harmony within the team.

Providing insight into the dressing-room reaction, Jones said Salah took responsibility for the impact of his words on his teammates.

“Mo is his own man, and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports.

“He apologised to us and was like, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologise’. That is the man that he is.”

Jones stressed that Salah’s conduct within the team remained professional and encouraging, despite the controversy.

“I can only speak from my knowing Mo and how he is with us and how he acted on that. He was positive as well,” the midfielder added.

Naija News reports that Salah is currently away on international duty with the Egyptian national team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, as Liverpool continues their domestic campaign without him.

The development appears to have eased concerns over a potential rift within the Liverpool squad, with Jones’ comments suggesting that the issue has largely been addressed internally.
