Garnacho Explains Why He Joined Chelsea, Guardiola Gives Update On Rodri’s Fitness

Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho has revealed why he decided to sign for Chelsea, saying the club’s playing philosophy and the chance to grow as a player convinced him to make the move.

In a post shared by football insider Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday, Garnacho said he was particularly impressed after a personal chat with Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

“When I spoke with the club and Maresca, it’s also important the style of play we have. He explained a lot to me in a video call. It’s a big chance to improve as a player in a team like Chelsea,” Garnacho said.

The 21-year-old joined Chelsea this summer on a seven-year deal reportedly worth £40 million, as the Blues continue to reinforce their squad for the new Premier League and European campaigns.

Garnacho has already opened his account for the club, scoring in Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to newly promoted Sunderland last weekend.

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that there is still no specific timeline for the return of midfielder Rodri, who remains sidelined with a recurring muscle injury.

Speaking to reporters, Guardiola said the club will not rush the Spain international back into action.

“There’s no time frame for Rodri’s return yet. He’s not ready yet. For sure, he’s getting better, training with us partially. But after what happened two times, prior incidents in muscular, we’re going to see how he evolves this week,” Guardiola said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Rodri has missed several games since suffering the setback, and City have struggled to maintain their usual dominance in midfield without him.

Guardiola stressed that the medical staff are taking a cautious approach, ensuring the player’s long-term fitness takes priority over short-term results.
