Carlos Alcaraz To Face Novak Djokovic In ATP Semis

Spanish tennis sensation, Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the semifinals of the ATP Finals where he would face Novak Djokovic after defeating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.

Alcaraz proved he was back to his best form by defeating third seed Medvedev after losing to Germany’s Alexander Zverev in his opening match.

The 20-year-old made a breakthrough to love at 3-3 in the first set. In the second game, he took the crucial break at 4–4 and won the game with ease.

Carlos Alcaraz who is the reigning champion of the Wimbledon beat Medvedev 6-4, 6-4 to reach the ATP semi-finals. This means that Alcaraz will play in the season-ising competition in Turin.

2020 ATP Finals champion Mikhail Medvedev will square off against Italy’s home favorite and Green Group winner, Jannik Sinner.

Sinner’s victory over Holger Rune on Thursday guaranteed world no. 1 Djokovic a spot in the ATP semi-finals months after losing to Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.

Hence, Djokovic will reignite his fast-growing rivalry with Alcaraz in the ATP semi-finals at 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 18.

After confirming that his next opponent his the veteran Djokovic, Alcaraz said: “Obviously Novak is Novak, he’s the best player in the world right now.”

In an interview with Amazon Prime Video, Alcaraz added: “It’s one of the most difficult challenges that I’m going to face, facing Novak in this tournament that he has won six times.”

“I’m going to put my best tennis [out there] and I’m going to enjoy it. I’m excited.”

Note that eight of the best men’s tennis players of the year compete in the ATP Finals. They are divided into two groups of four, with the top two seeds from each group advancing to the semifinals.
