The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have revealed their demands from President Bola Tinubu-led government.
Naija News had earlier reported that the organised labour unions, on Tuesday, embarked on a nationwide strike over the assault on NLC president Joe Ajaero.
The organised labour directed its affiliates to implement the resolutions of the National Executive Council.
NLC, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), listed its demands from the Federal Government, calling for the arrest of some government personnel.
The apex bank’s Director of Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin, disclosed this in a statement titled, “CBN To Allow Old Design Naira Banknotes As Legal Tender.
Abdulmumin said the decision is in line with international best practices and to forestall a repeat of earlier experiences implementing the policy.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has appointed Setonji Koshoedo as the party’s acting National Secretary.
Naija News understands that Koshoedo, until his appointment, was the Deputy National Secretary of the party.
The acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum, announced the appointment after the NWC meeting on Tuesday,
Damagum explained that Koshoedo’s appointment is pending the determination of the case before the Enugu High Court.
President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that his administration inherited serious liabilities from Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
In a statement on Tuesday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu made this known on Monday night in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The President lamented that Nigeria has serious deficits in port, power infrastructure and agro-allied facilities, saying that his administration would ensure that all the shortcomings are addressed.
President Tinubu said even though his government also inherited assets from his predecessors, he would not make any excuses.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked reports that the commission manipulated accredited figures of voters in the Kogi Governorship Election results uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.
Recall that on Saturday, November 11, there were off-season governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states.
During and after the elections, there were widespread reports that there was manipulation of the process by agents of INEC.
One of the most viral reports was that INEC tempered with the figures of voters in the Kogi Governorship Election results uploaded on the IReV portal.
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has warned against the likelihood of Nigeria slipping to becoming a one-party state.
The former Vice President made the remarks on Tuesday when he hosted the national executive committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council Nigeria (IPAC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cancelled the supplementary election it earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 18, in Ogori-Magongo and some other local government areas of Kogi State.
The INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Kogi state, Haliru Sule, made this known in an interview with reporters in Lokoja, the state capital, on Tuesday.
Recall that the Commission had suspended election in over 50 polling units in Ogori-Mangogo and other local governments across the state because of pre-recorded result sheets and other electoral irregularities.
Speaking with reporters, Sule defended the declaration of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of Saturday’s Kogi governorship election despite planning to conduct supplementary elections in the state.
Sule said INEC applied the “margin of lead principle” in announcing Ododo as the winner of the election after he polled a total of 446,237 votes, and his closest rival, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), polled a total of 259,052 votes.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has distanced itself from a viral publication which claimed a nationwide electricity blackout was imminent following the industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Naija News reports that many affiliates of organized labour, on Tuesday, complied with the strike directive and suspended their services.
TCN, however, has swiftly denied that it joined in the strike, stating that there is no truth in a media report about a looming national blackout.
The TCN stressed that the assertion made by an online news platform, which claimed that the Head of Public Affairs of TCN had predicted a nationwide power outage, is incorrect and deceptive.
In a statement released by the TCN management and posted on its official X account on Tuesday, it was clarified that the Public Affairs Head did not make any such statement. The statement further revealed that the country’s power grid is fully functional and continues to consistently supply significant electricity to distribution load centres throughout the nation.
Nigerian lawmakers were locked out of their offices on Tuesday following the closure of the National Assembly complex by officials of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in compliance with the nationwide industrial action.
Naija News reports that in protest of the attack on its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State, human and vehicular movements were prevented from entering the Complex.
Members of the two Chambers and the Staff of the National Assembly, journalists and others were locked out as the entrances into the Complex were locked.
However, after hot arguments, the officials of Organised Labour opened one of the gates for reporters, during which few others struggled into the Complex.
