The latter, Jude Lemfani Abaga, professionally known as M.I Abaga, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. In 2006, he rose to fame after his song “Crowd Mentality” became popular in Jos, Nigeria.

He then released his first studio album, Talk About It, in 2008, followed by MI 2: The Movie in 2010. Four years later, he released his third studio album, The Chairman.

Wizkid, on the other hand, in 2009, entered into a recording agreement with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E), owned by Banky W.

Subsequently, he gained significant attention with the release of “Holla at Your Boy,” the primary track from his first studio album, Superstar (2011). This album also produced the hit singles “Tease Me/Bad Guys” and “Don’t Dull.”

The duo have since made a name for themselves in the music industry.

In 2022, MI Abaga and Wizkid disagreed over a certain genre of music. Naija News reports that Wizkid, during an interview with 10 Magazine, said he doesn’t listen to rap music because it’s dead and boring.

Wizkid claimed that Afrobeats is the new pop, stressing he has sold two million copies of one of his songs in America.

According to the ‘Ojuelegba’ crooner, listening to rap is tiring because the artists often make repetition of beats and flows.

He wrote: “The energy around HIPHOP right now feels right.. I know most rappers are still not the most popular yet.. but right now is time for us to focus on the craft.. just keep getting better.. this year we did so well as a genre and next year we grow!!!!
