Former Light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz, has blasted reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for calling out middleweight fighter Israel Adesanya.

Alex Pereira has been trying to continue his rivalry with Adesanya even though he and the Nigerian fighter are no longer in the same division.

In the main event at UFC 295 on Saturday, Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka to win the vacant light heavyweight title. Afterward, he invited Adesanya, the two-time middleweight champion, to challenge him for the 205-pound title.

In reaction to Pereira’s interest in Adesanya, Blachowicz took to X to criticize the potential matchup because Pereira and Adesanya have already fought in two UFC bouts and two kickboxing bouts.

Hence, Blachowicz slammed Pereira in a string of tweets on Sunday, calling him “slimy” and claiming that they still had “unfinished business.”

Recall that Pereira beat Blachowicz via split decision in their 205-pound match at the UFC 291 in July 2023.

“@AlexPereiraUFC I know you’re a slimy one. Calling out Izzy. Great performance and all but STFU, we have unfinished business you and I. The judges won’t give you handouts next time. Pathetic”, the former light Heavyweight fighter posted.

Though Blachowicz would like to give it another shot, he will not be facing Pereira again. The Pole and Aleksandar Rakic will fight once more at UFC 297 on January 20, 2024.

In addition, UFC CEO Dana White said on Saturday that the next opponent for Pereira is former champion Jamahal Hill, who lost the title in July due to an injury.
