Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello alleged that the media spread false accusations of electoral violence during Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

He alleged that the state has witnessed peaceful and equitable elections under his administration.

Following casting his vote at the Agassa Uvette polling unit in Okene, Bello dismissed the claims of violence as a “media fabrication” and challenged those making such allegations to scrutinize historical records.

According to him, a comparison between his regime and previous administrations will reveal that his conduct of elections has been the most transparent, fair, credible, and devoid of violence.

Governor Bello insists that the narrative of violence in Kogi State elections is a creation of the media, suggesting that those promoting such ideas are opposed to positive developments in the state.

Despite his criticism of the media, Bello appreciated the professionalism and dedication of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

He commends security agencies for maintaining a professional demeanour and allowing citizens to exercise their voting rights freely. According to him, the absence of issues or discord indicates the unity and satisfaction of the people of Kogi with the electoral process.
