Nigeria Has No President-elect, Swearing In Tinubu Is Like Bringing Back The Military Regime - Datti Baba-Ahmed

The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party at the February 2023 presidential election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has charged Nigerians to rise for themselves, suggesting that the Supreme Court will not give them the true democracy that they desire.

Making this charge while appearing on an Arise TV broadcast on Monday, Datti challenged Nigerians to stand up and fight for their democracy.

“Nigerians are not yet ready to do this as i am speaking to you, the likes of my former friends who will say it is treason and all that, I am educating Nigerians, rise up for your right, no justice of Supreme Court will give you democracy,” Datti said during the interview.

Datti suggested that Nigerians wielded the power to kick out non-performing government, suggesting that power and sovereignty remains with the people.

His comment comes hours after the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, faulted the Supreme Court ruling that upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu.

Obi had argued that the ruling of the Supreme Court had affected the trust that citizens had in the judiciary.

Naija News recalls that the Supreme Court had in October struck out cases brought against the election of President Bola Tinubu by Peter Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party’s counterpart, Atiku Abubakar.
