Aruna Quadri Drops One Spot In ITTF World Rankings

Nigerian table tennis star, Aruna Quadri has moved from 15th to 16th spot in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) world rankings for October.

Despite the drop, Aruna Quadri, who scored 1,175 points in the month under review, is still the top-ranked player in Africa.

Omar Assar, an Egyptian, continues to hold the 20th place globally and is ranked second in Africa, behind the 34-year-old Nigerian tennis legend.

Egyptians, Ahmed Saleh comes in third in Africa and 55th overall, and Mohammed El-Beilal moved up to the fourth spot in Africa, 65th globally.

Fifth place goes to Algeria’s Mehdi Bouloussa, who climbed one position to 93rd in the world. Taiwo Mati and Ibrahima Diaw are the other two Africans in the top 100.

With 208 points, Diaw is ranked 98th in the October ranking, while Mati is ranked 99th with 207 points for the month under review.

China’s Fan Zhendong is currently ranked number one in the world with 6410 points. With respective scores of 4795 and 3865 points, his countrymen Chuqin Wang and Ma Long are ranked second and third, respectively.

China’s Liang Jingkun and Brazil’s Hugo Calderano complete the top five.

How other Nigerians Performed in the October rankings:

In the latest ITTF ranking, Olajide Omotayo, Bode Abiodun, and Amadi Omeh all made progress.

Omotayo rose to the top 109 in the world, while Abiodun is currently ranked 152nd. Omeh is ranked 172nd with 81 points.

Offiong Edem is ranked 142nd in the world in the women’s division, while Fatimo Bello, the top player in Nigeria, is ranked 118th.

Ajoke Ojomu drops one spot to 194th place, and Esther Oribamise comes in at number 151. Seven-time Olympian Funke Oshonaike dropped to 210th place in the rankings as well.
