"It Is Not About Getting 100% Results, But About Making 100% Effort" - Peter Obi Reacts As Davido, Burna Boy, Others Lose At 2024 Grammy

The presidential candidate of the Labour party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi has reacted to the proposed purchase of N160 million Toyota Land Cruiser SUV for each lawmaker in the National Assembly.

Recall that the Senate had come under heavy backlash over its decision to buy luxury vehicles despite the economic situation in the country.

Some lawmakers, however, stressed that it is not new for government workers to buy vehicles for official duties.

Speaking on the situation during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Obi noted that the vehicles are only for official purposes and ought to be returned when they leave office.

However, he maintained that the situation would have been different if he were president.

According to him, “Let me start with the issue of Labour Party members in the House, I have actually discussed this issue with them. I heard that these vehicles are official cars.

“Which means they have to make use of them while in office. They are meant for official use so it’s not as if it’s their vehicles.

“They are meant to use them while they’re in the Senate but you know how things work here. It’s not going to be like that.

“But what I tell people is that had Labour been in office[won the presidency] nobody would have contemplated that.

“You shouldn’t even do the wrong thing and start correcting it. It should not even be mentioned in the first place.”
