Rivers Crisis Worsens As Fubara Redeploys Assembly Clerk, Deputy

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has reacted to the emergence of a new Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

Naija News recalls Edison Ehie, on Monday, emerged as the new Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Ehie was the former majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

It could be recalled that the Rivers Assembly had earlier removed Ehie, over his alleged complicity in the arson attack on the assembly on Sunday night.

Ehie, who is believed to be a strong supporter of Governor Similanayi Fubara, was said to have frustrated the initial attempt to initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor.

Reacting to the emergence of Ehie as the new Speaker of the House, Governor Fubara shared a picture of the Speaker on his account on the X platform and wrote; “Congratulations Mr. Speaker.”

Fubara: What Tinubu Should Do To Wike To Avert Untold Crisis In Rivers State – Clark

Elder statesman and the leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Edwin Clark, has reacted to the political crisis rocking River State within the last 48 hours.

Naija News reports that Clark, during a media briefing in Abuja, on Monday, urged President Bola Tinubu to call the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the security forces in Rivers State to order.

He said the political development orchestrated by Wike aims to remove Fubara, force his deputy to resign and install the Speaker of the Assembly as the Governor of the State.

Clark also condemned the security operatives’ attack on Fubara, saying Nigeria is in a democracy and everyone must uphold the constitution of democracy.
