Kenneth Okonkwo Speaks Ahead Of Supreme Court's Final Judgment On 2023 Presidential Election

Veteran actor and chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Kenneth Okonkwo has released a cryptic message ahead of the final ruling of the Supreme Court on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

Naija News recalls the apex court has fixed Thursday, October 26, to deliver final judgements in petitions filed by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, challenging the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the keenly contested election.

His victory was also affirmed by the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).

Dissatisfied, however, both Atiku and Obi approached the Supreme Court for redress.

A 7-man panel of Justices of the Court led by Justice John Inyang Okoro had on Monday taken final arguments from lawyers to parties in the petitions and reserved judgment on the matter.

Okonkwo on Wednesday ahead of the Supreme Court’s final ruling however expressed low confidence in the judicary.

In expressing his view, Okonkwo shared a video of popular lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) condemning some of the recent pronouncements of the apex court and added that his trust is in God.

In the video, Agbakoba expressed dismay with some of the recent pronouncements of the Supreme Court and said he has lost a bit of confidence in what the court has been doing lately.

Okonkwo wrote via his account on the X platform; “The Supreme Court judgement is scheduled for tomorrow, 26th of October, 2023. In God we trust.”
