Video: Get Out Of My Party If You Are Not Wearing Aso-Ebi - Woman Causes Stirs On Her 70th Birthday

A woman identified as Mrs Toyin Bucknor has caused stirs on social media after a video of her chasing people out of her 70th birthday party over Aso-Ebi surfaced.

In the video seen by Naija News, Bucknor stood up while people were partying and announced that anyone not wearing her Aso-Ebi (a Yoruba name for uniform party dress) should leave immediately.

The celebrant threatened to embarrass anyone who failed to adhere to her rules, saying she was speaking with anger.

“If you didn’t wear my Aso-Ebi or buy from me, stand up and leave my party if you want to turn 70 because I am talking with anger,” the celebrant told her guests.

It was observed that while she was making the announcement, the MC and some persons, probably her family members, tried to stop her, but Bucknor frowned at them, and they all withdrew.

The development left many of the guests bewildered as they stirred at each other.

Another interesting thing is that the woman had issued a warning on the invitation card to her guest, as seen online.

The warning reads: “Please, no sharing of Aso-Ebi to avoid being bounced. No Access Card, No Entry.

“Don’t sit on the chair if your name is not written on the Table. To avoid being embarrassed. This is Due to the capacity of the hall.

“Underage not allowed.”

In another viral video clip, it was observed that some people who felt embarrassed by the celebrant’s action stood up and left the party hall despite having their Aso-Ebi on them.

@TAyough – “Well she kinda has a right to say it, albeit weird

@TAIWOISAACABIOD – “She is running out of sanity: was it her righteousness that made her to attain 70?

@momentswtbreezy – “She’s 70, a grandma & you people are chatting about her being. A grandma oo, you think she cares what anyone think? All of her direct children, grandchildren, siblings & friends are wearing the Asoebi.

“She’s talking to the +1 & Atenu, definitely not d people dear to her.

@OloriOfOloris – “Yoruba people carry asoebi on their head like gala. To them if you don’t buy it then you don’t support them and it’s mad silly.

@Shazomiii – “Even if I bought aso ebi, I’ll still get up and leave. Curses and disrespect because of food that will digest in 3 hours.

@Warepamorsammy – “This woman thinks its by her doing she is alive and healthy to see 70years old,it’s sad when you expect wisdom, knowledge and maturity from a 70year old and this is what they have to say in a public place where they should encourage and advice young folks on what they have learnt in their 70 years on earth smh its disappointing.

@TundeOsosanya – “This is disgraceful! From a seventy-year-old woman? Just when you thought you’ve seen it all.

@ill_nojie – “I was invited to this part last week. Thank God i didn’t go sha. Well… e for no covern me as I na coverage I come do. But I’d feel bad for everyone.”
