1. Zamfara Abduction: Tinubu Issues Directive To Security Agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to rescue the remaining female students of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were recently abducted by terrorists.

Condemning the reprehensible act of abduction in a statement on Sunday by his Media Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, the President says there is no moral justification for such a heinous act against innocent victims whose only “offence” was their pursuit of quality education.

President Tinubu affirmed that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return.

Furthermore, the President pledges that the federal government is determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, and totally free from the menacing acts of terrorists.

2. Atiku’s Camp Reveals ’10 Big Lies Of Tinubu Administration’

The Special Assistant on Public Communication to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Phrank Shaibu, has revealed the ten big lies allegedly told by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

In a statement to Naija News on Sunday, Shaibu said that the repeated lies were evidence that Tinubu’s only plan was to use propaganda to deceive Nigerians rather than do any proper work in rescuing citizens from the bottomless pit of bad governance, they had been pushed into.

According to him, Nigerians must not be deceived by the apology issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, and other aides to Tinubu.

He said they were only sorry because they had been caught and not because they were penitent.

Shaibu said the fact that Tinubu had more media aides than economic and security advisers was enough to prove that his administration would rely on propaganda as a state policy.

3. ‘I Am Not About To Bark At You’ – Soyinka Taunts Obasanjo Over ‘Disrespect’ To Oyo Monarchs

Nigerian Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has mocked former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his action towards traditional rulers at an event in Iseyin, Oyo state.

Naija News recalls that Obasanjo, during the commissioning of the Iseyin Campus of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, tongue-lashed the Oyo monarchs for not standing up to honour him and the state governor, Seyi Makinde when they were called to the podium.

As Obasanjo’s action has continued to receive wide criticism for ‘disrespecting’ the traditional institutions and an insult to Yoruba culture, Soyinka has slammed the ex-president in a recent video.

In a video shared by Vanguard, Soyinka, at an event, told some monarchs at the gathering that he was not in their presence to bark at them to stand up and sit down, which made them laugh.

4. Details Of What Mrs Tinubu Discussed With UN Deputy Secretary General In New York Emerges

The details of discussions between the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Jane Mohammed have emerged.

Naija News reports the two leaders met in New York on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Sharing details of what they discussed during their meeting, Mrs Tinubu in a post on Sunday via her account on the X platform revealed that their talks centered around Nigerian women and how the United Nations can help in improving their economic empowerment, social investment, and improved health care.

The First Lady while appreciating Mohammed, added that she looks forward to result-oriented partnerships with the UN in the listed areas.

5. ‘Tinubu’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale Not Qualified’

The special adviser to President Bola Tinubu on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale is not qualified for the position he is currently occupying according to some stakeholders.

The newly elected governing council members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) who bared their minds on the matter said being a good writer, broadcaster or journalist is not enough to occupy the exalted position of the President’s mouthpiece.

The council members disclosed that Ngelale is not a member of the NIPR and the law establishing the institute makes it a criminal offence for any individual to practice public relations without the necessary certification and licensing.

They maintained that Tinubu’s spokesperson does not have the basic knowledge and requisite training on PR hence he is not fit to be in the position.

According to the council members, while the journalism pedigree, antecedents, and credentials of Ngelale as Mr. President’s spokesman is not in doubt, he is legally not qualified for the current job he is doing at the Presidency because he is not a member of the NIPR.

6. NLC To Hold Emergency NEC Meeting Over Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has fixed Tuesday to hold an emergency National Executive Council meeting over its proposed indefinite industrial action.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a terse statement on Sunday by NLC General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja,
to Presidents, General Secretaries and Treasurers of affiliate unions.

According to the statement, the meeting which will be held on Tuesday would be done virtually.

Though, the subject matter of the meeting was not stated, it may not be unconnected to NLC’s planned strike following the expiration of a 21- working day ultimatum to the Federal Government.

Naija News recalls that organised labour had earlier embarked on a two-day warning strike to press home its demands.

7. Academic Record: Resign Now, You Have Become A National Embarrassment – Atiku Camp Slams Tinubu

The camp of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign from office over the controversy surrounding his academic record with the Chicago State University.

Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe who made the call said the issue regarding Tinubu’s academic record has become a national embarrassment.

The aide was of the opinion that Tinubu had made Nigeria and Nigerians a laughing stock at the international level and the only way for him to rectify it is by resigning.

He made the call ahead of the resumption of the court case on Monday in a petition in which Atiku’s legal team is seeking a court order for the Chicago State University to release Tinubu’s academic records.

It would be recalled that a United States District Judge, Nancy Maldonado, had on Thursday agreed to stay an order directing Chicago State University to make Tinubu’s academic document available to Atiku’s legal team after the president’s lawyers filed an emergency motion seeking a delay in the implementation of the order directing the CSU to comply with Atiku’s subpoenas till Monday.

Reacting to the development, Ibe said no matter the delay tactics employed by Tinubu and his legal team, the academic records would be released.

8. Fagbemi Reveals Why He Accepted To Work In Tinubu’s Cabinet

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi at the weekend revealed why he accepted to serve in the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.

Fagbemi revealed that he accepted to work in President Tinubu’s government to contribute his quota to the progress and development of the country.

He noted that he was surprised when he was nominated as a minister because he did not lobby for it.

The AGF stated this while speaking in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital at the weekend when he was hosted to a reception by members of the Emmanuel Chambers led by the leader and founder of the Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN).

The event was attended by top lawyers in the country including Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN), Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN), Adebayo Adenipekun (SAN) and the national secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Bashiru.

The minister, who was the second lawyer from the chambers to be made Attorney General of the Federation after Chief Akin Olujimi, explained that he was already collating the views and ideas of stakeholders towards having a blueprint for the nation’s justice system in line with the agenda of the president for the country.

While commending his colleagues and friends for organizing the reception, he stated that the contributions of Afe Babalola to his success and achievement in the legal profession were immeasurable and unmatched, promising not to disappoint the chambers in his new role.

9. Atiku Reacts To Abduction Of Female Students In Zamfara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in the February 25 elections, Atiku Abubakar, has condemned the abduction of female students in the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State.

Naija News reports that this comes a few hours after President Bola Tinubu ordered security operatives to rescue the remaining Zamfara students.

In a series of posts via his X handle, formerly known as Twitter, the former Vice president described the abduction incidents as unfortunate.

Atiku argued that Nigerian citizens have continued to live in fear despite the huge investment in national defence.

While sympathizing with the victims of the incident, Atiku urged the security agencies to rescue those remaining in captivity by putting an end to the acts of barbarism, banditry and brigandage.

10. Peter Obi’s Supreme Court Appeal An Exercise In Futility – LP Chieftain

The Labour Party (LP) coordinator for the 2023 presidential election in Ekiti State, Moses Jolayemi on Sunday stated that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi‘s effort to appeal judgment is an exercise in futility.

Recall that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal struck out the petition filed by Obi against President Bola Tinubu.

The tribunal in its ruling affirmed the victory of President Tinubu in the February 25th, 2023 election.

Jolayemi in an interview with Punch said there is nothing new that Obi can present at the Supreme Court.
