The mother of the former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, Genevieve is dead.

Naija News reports that Duke said in a message on Saturday that his mother went into a coma on August 1 and died on Friday, August 25.

“Incidentally and interestingly, she slipped into a coma on the 35th anniversary of the passing of her husband and our father. She was 94 years old. They both have 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren to date,” he wrote.

Duke noted that she would be buried on August 30.

“Her earthly cloak will be laid to rest on Wednesday the 30th of August, 2023 on Grailland at Iju Hills in accordance with Grail Funeral Rites,” he said.

NOVA Chairman Loses Son

In other news, the son of the chairman of NOVA Merchant Bank Phillips Oduoza, Emeka Oduoza died in New York, United States at age 27.

The investment banker, a member of Blackstone, one of the largest financial institutions in the world, died last weekend, Naija News understands.

According to the family, Oduoza was renowned for his excellence, dedication, and impact on the financial landscape in the States.

The statement reads: “Emeka was not only a beloved family member and friend, but he was also a distinguished member of the Blackstone community. His exceptional skills and commitment to his work as a Blackstone member made him a valued and respected colleague. He approached his responsibilities with unwavering dedication and a deep sense of integrity, leaving an indelible impression on all who had the privilege of working with him.”
