Chelsea have completed the signing of Brazilian attacker Deivid Washington for a transfer fee worth 20 million euros.

Deivid Washington started his football career at the Brazilian club, Gremio before he moved to another Brazilian club, Santos, in 2016.

The 18-year-old forward who has been unstoppable at the youth level, made his senior debut for Santos this season.

So far in the ongoing Brazilian football season, Deivid Washington has played 16 times for the Santos senior team in which he scored two goals.

Due to the performance of the Brazilian youngster and his potential, Chelsea gave him a seven-year contract with an option for one more year extension.

Deivid Washington is the second player from Santos to sign for Chelsea this summer, following the arrival of 18-year-old winger Angelo, who signed with the Blues in July.

He is the ninth player that Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, has brought in during the summer transfer window.

After signing for Chelsea, Deivid Washington said, “I’m very happy to be joining a huge team like Chelsea.

“I can’t wait to make my debut here at such a big club, and provide lots of goals and assists.”

Meanwhile, Pochettino has confirmed that the club’s new signing Moises Caicedo would make his debut start on Friday night against Luton Town.

The £115 million signing made his debut last weekend in Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat away at West Ham United. He conceded a penalty that resulted in the third goal.

On the other hand, Chelsea’s £58 million transfer from Southampton, Romeo Lavia won’t be available for the club against Luton Town.

The coach said, “Moises is ready to start. Lavia no. He is still after they assessed him, he needs a few weeks to be ready to be involved with the team.

“He is reconditioning now and working to try to catch the team and the team-mates. For Romeo, we need to wait a few weeks until he is involved with the team.”
