Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Shehu Sani has said that the Nigerians will soon start pleading with the government to allow them wallow in poverty.

Sani stated this while lamenting over the government’s constant promise to lift Nigerians out of poverty.

Naija News reports that the administration of former president Muhammadu Buhari had promised to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty, but failed to do so before leaving power.

In a Sallah message to Nigerians, Buhari had admitted that leading Nigeria was one of his toughest challenges in life.

In a recent development, the Minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, Betta Edu said that the government plans on lifting 133 million Nigerians from poverty.

Speaking via Twitter on Tuesday evening, Sani opined that the citizenry would soon get tired of the government’s failure to keep their promise and will eventually demand that they be left alone in their poverty.

According to him, “The Past Government promised to lift the people out of poverty. The Present Government is promising to lift the people out of poverty. We are reaching a point where the people will beg the Government to please leave them in Poverty. The poverty you know is better than the one you don’t know.
