Strong And Timely: Bashir Ahmad Reacts As Kano Governor Sacks Commissioner Who Threatened Tribunal Judges

Former Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the immediate past President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has reacted to a publication by Daily Trust showing the military might between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

Naija News reports that Nigeria, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has cut ties with Niger on several grounds following the takeover of the government by the military junta in the country.

Recall that Niger’s democratically elected President, Mohamed Bazoum, was ousted weeks ago by his presidential guard.

Subsequently, the military declared a takeover of government in the country, a development that has been frowned upon by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the United Nations (UN), and other international bodies and country leaders.

The new government in Niger has since warned ECOWAS, UN, and other countries against intervention in the ongoing development in its territory.

However, amid reports of a planned invasion of Niger by ECOWAS through the use of military force, Daily Trust published an infographic showing the military might between Nigeria and Niger.

Reacting to the media house publication via his verified Twitter handle, Ahmad wrote: “Please, @daily_trust, stop doing these comparisons; we are not going to war with one of our important neighbours, Niger Republic.”
