Songs of Nigerian Grammy award-winning singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, alongside his colleague, Ayra Starr, have been included in the 2023 summer playlist of former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama.

Naija News reports that the 44th American leader unveiled the playlist via his Twitter handle on Thursday night, with songs of the two Nigerian singers as the only Afrobeat songs on the list.

Burna Boy made it to the list with his song “Sitting On Top Of The World” remix featuring 21 Sãvage, while Ayra Starr made it to the list with her 2023 hit song, ‘Stability’.

Obama tweeted: “Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed”

I Am Glad People Think I Am New In The Music Industry

Meanwhile, Burna Boy has said that he is not bothered by the misconception of being new in the music industry, despite releasing his debut album a decade ago.

Naija News recalls that Davido, last month, created a debate online after stating that Burna Boy belonged to the new cats group in the industry.

He grouped Burna Boy with singers such as Rema, Asake, and Fireboy DML.

However, in a recent chat with Apple Music’s Ebro, Burna Boy said it is a good thing some people think he is new in the industry, stressing that it makes him feel younger and want to do more.
