Former Manchester United player who is currently the manager of MLS club DC United, Wayne Rooney, had said Marcus Rashford needs to win more major titles for United to level up with Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Erling Haaland finished his debut season at Manchester City as the Premier League top scorer, UEFA Champions League top scorer, and the highest goalscorer in Europe’s top five leagues.

Haaland also helped Manchester City to win the treble – the Premier League title, UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup for the first time in the history of the club and the first time in England since United did it in 1999.

As for Kylian Mbappe, he has led Paris Saint Germain to win five French Ligue 1, two Coupe de la Ligue, two Trophée des Champions, and took the club to the UEFA Champions League final in 2020.

On the other hand, Marcus Rashford who recently became Manchester United’s highest-paid player with a weekly pay of £325,000, had the best season in his career last season.

For the first time in his career, he scored 30 goals in all competitions for Manchester United as he helped the club to finish in the Premier League top four.

Also, for the first time since United won the Europa League in 2017, Rashford helped the club win a title, Carabao, last season under the tutelage of coach Erik ten Hag.

Despite the effort of the 25-year-old England international so far at Old Trafford, Rooney believes that Rashford must win more titles to get to the level of 22-year-old Haaland and 24-year-old Mbappe.

Rooney who will coach MLS all-stars against Arsenal on Thursday, July 20, at 01:30, said, “I think Marcus Rashford is an incredible talent. I’m delighted he’s signed a new deal. The next five years for him are going to be really important in his legacy because he can score a lot of goals, but if he really wants to go to that level which Mbappe and Haaland are at then he has to be the man to get Manchester United back to winning trophies and league titles. I hope he can do that.”
