Paul Onuachu Wanted By Two German Clubs

Two Bundesliga clubs, Augsburg and Stuttgart, have reportedly shown interest in signing Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu.

The 29-year-old forward, who joined Southampton in January, has attracted interest from German clubs after a poor stint in the Premier League, according to Daily Echo.

Onuachu played for the Saints in 11 games and scored only four goals which were contrary to his outstanding performance at Belgian club Genk as he failed to help Southampton remain in the Premier League.

At Genk, Onuachu demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess with an exceptional record of 16 goals in 19 games during the first half of the 2022-2023 season before Southampton brought him to the Premier League.

After Ruben Selles was named the new manager of Southampton, Onuachu grew increasingly irritated with his lack of game time.

Hence, the £18 million striker is expected to quit the relegated Southampton this summer, and negotiations for his exit have reportedly begun.

Onuachu has drawn serious interest from Augsburg and Stuttgart, who both want to sign him either permanently or on loan.

A return to Genk has not been ruled out for the Nigerian striker, who has also been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach.

His improved wages at the Premier League club may present a challenge in the chase of Onuachu. It might be difficult for other interested clubs to match his financial demands.

Meanwhile, Onuachu is still taking part in preseason training under coach Russell Martin, the new manager of Southampton. Hence, he could play at the Championship club next season if any club fail to meet his price tag.
