Just In: List Of PDP Governors In Attendance As Meeting With Wike Begins

Governor Nyesom Wike Rivers State has said he is not afraid of being invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after the expiration of his tenure.

The governor disclosed that he will not run away from the country at the end of his tenure because of the fear of being arrested by the anti-graft agency.

Naija News reports that Wike said this during his appearance on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily on Monday.

He was reacting to a comment by the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, that the anti-graft agency will embark on the arrest of corrupt governors whose tenure will expire on May 29.

According to the governor, he is not bothered by the threat of the anti-graft agency to arrest governors alleged to have embezzled public funds.

Wike said he will be part of the handover ceremony and will honour the invitation of EFCC if he is invited, stressing that he has nothing to hide.

He, however, vowed that he will not run away from Nigeria days before the inauguration of his successor as some ex-governors had done in the past.

I’m not going to run away because of EFCC. Why should they invite me? If they invite me, I will honour their invitation. I will not run away,” he said.
