2023 Election Result: Either Peter Obi Or Atiku Is Lying - Oshiomhole

A former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has declared that one of Peter Obi or Atiku Abubakar is lying about the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

Naija News recalls Obi was the Labour Party (LP) candidate while Atiku was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria held on Saturday, February 25.

However, according to the figures declared early on Wednesday morning by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the election was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu while Atiku and Obi placed second and third respectively.

But the duo of Atiku and Obi in separate press conferences on Thursday about the outcome of the election claimed to have emerged victorious at the polls and vowed to follow the legal route to reclaim their mandates.

Reacting to the claims, Oshiomhole during an interview with Channels TV on Thursday said one of the two candidates must be lying as both of them can’t win at the same time.

The former APC chairman said both Atiku and Obi are accusing one another of rigging each other out of the second position.

He claimed Tinubu won the contest fair and square but the other top contestants do not want to concede defeat.

In his words, “Between His Excellency Peter Obi my very good friend and His Excellency Atiku Abubakar, one of them must be lying. That is clear by the fact that Atiku who came second said he won, Obi who came third said no he is the one who won.

“So, between the two of them, they must be trying to rig each other out, so one of them must be lying and when they go to court I am sure that is one thing that will be showing when you have two people claiming victory. So, they are indirectly accusing one another of rigging each other out even for the second position.”

The former Edo State governor, however, commended the two presidential candidates for putting Nigeria first and submitting to the law.
