The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has disclosed how he stopped the third-term bid of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Naija News reports that Atiku disclosed this at an event with the party’s National Assembly candidates on Sunday night in Abuja.

The PDP flagbearer said he developed a very intimate relationship with members of the National Assembly during his tenure as vice president.

According to Atiku, his relationship with the National Assembly enabled them to stop the third-term agenda of Obasanjo.

He noted that he is looking forward to re-engaging with the National Assembly when elected as president to further deepen the democratic development and progress of the nation.

While lamenting the current security and economic predicament of the country, Atiku said the country is divided because of the activities and policies of the current activities and policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

Atiku said: “During my tenure as Vice President, I developed a very intimate relationship with members of the National Assembly, and it is that relationship that enabled us to stop the third term presidency attempt by Obasanjo.

“I really look forward to re-engaging you as you return to the National Assembly for your functions from the constitution to further deepen democracy development and progress of our nation.

“We are more divided than ever because of the activities and policies of the current APC government.”
