The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has cleared the air about the candidacy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Siminialayi Fubara.

Naija News reports that the governor said Fubara remains the authentic candidate of the PDP in the state.

According to him, speculations that he might be replaced are just rumours by those he called plotters against the interest of the state.

Wike made the clarification at the PDP campaign flag-off rally for Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area on Tuesday at the Ogu Mini Stadium in Rivers State.

He explained that it was necessary for him to clear the air because of rumours making the rounds about the replacement of Fubara as the PDP candidate in the state.

The reaction he said is a sequel to the dismissal of an appeal by the Supreme Court on Tuesday which was filed by Farah Dagogo, who claimed to be the PDP governorship candidate in Rivers State.

However, the governor insisted that there is no disputation over Fubara’s candidature, adding that plotters against the state should be aware he is always a step ahead so they too should return home to implement their plot.

Wike stated that “Supreme Court dismissed the appeal by Farah. I can tell you there is nothing we do not know about what they want to plot from the up. If you plot finish, come down and implement it.”

The governor also claimed that the PDP national chairman Dr Iyorchia Ayu was lying about one of the G-5 governors visiting him at his residence.

Wike disclosed that neither he nor any G-5 governor went to the residence of Ayu, noting that this is not the first time such insinuation would be made but the G-5 governors will win the battle in PDP at the end of the day.

“Nobody can blackmail us. We’ll never go and meet anybody. We are who we are. This is not the first time we have battled. This battle we will win at the end of the day,” he added.

Naija News reports that Wike and four other aggrieved PDP governors have consistently demanded the resignation of Ayu as a criterion to support PDP flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.
