Igueben: Gunmen Strike Again, Abduct Area Customary Court President In Edo

The President of Igueben Area Customary Court, Precious Aigbonoga, was reportedly abducted on Monday morning around the Ugoneki axis of the Benin Asaba Express Way on her way to Court in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.

Naija News reports that this is coming in the wake of the attack and abduction of 30 persons in the Ekehen train station by suspected herdsmen.

The abduction of the Area Customary Court President was announced in a statement by the Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Benin branch, Festus Osagie Usiobaifo Esq.

According to the NBA statement, “the President of Igueben Area Customary Court, His Honour, Mrs Precious Aigbonoga, was kidnapped this morning around Ugoneki axis, on her way to Court in Igueben L.G.A.

“Her Honour is the wife of our Colleague, Mr Afebu Aigbonoga, PDP Candidate, Etsako West Constituency 1.

“The Chairman of the Lion Bar, Chief Nosa Francis Edo-Osagie is deeply saddened by this news and condemn in strong terms, the worrisome insensitivity of these bandits in kidnapping Mrs Aigbonoga an easygoing, gentle, and hardworking judicial officer.

The development comes amidst the apprehension caused by the abduction of the former Edo State House of Assembly member in the early hours of Monday in the same area.

Six Victims Rescued

Recent report emerging from the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, has indicated that six more of the 30 victims kidnapped at the Igueben train station have been rescued.

The commissioner disclosed this during a press briefing in Benin City, noting that two more suspects on the wanted list of the police had been arrested as investigation was on to determine their culpability in the kidnap incident.
