Ekiti Assembly: My Impeachment Was Unconstitutional - Aribisogan

The lawmaker representing the Ikole constituency in Ekiti State, Gboyega Aribisogan has emerged as the new Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly.

Naija News reports that lawmakers in the state elected Aribisogan on Tuesday as the new speaker of the state.

His emergence as the new speaker follows the death of Speaker Funminiyi Afuye after suffering cardiac arrest.

Aribisogan, who hails from Ijesha-Isu in Ikole Local Government Area, was sworn in at the plenary this morning by the clerk of the House, Tola Esan.

Recall that Naija News reported the death of Afuye last four weeks.

Afuye who represented Ikere constituency 1 of the state, died on Wednesday, October 19 at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) and was interred last Friday in his country home, Ikere-Ekiti.

A member of the House who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Tribune said “Our speaker and leader are dead. We learnt he developed sudden complications this morning(Wednesday) and was rushed to the hospital where he died later in the evening.

“This event is funny and shocking because he was full of life and activity in the last few days. He was at the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday, he led some of us to the governor on Monday, and Tuesday we accompanied Oyebanji to inspect some roads in Ado-Ekiti.

“But on Wednesday morning, he was rushed taken to the hospital but unfortunately we lost him. We were told it is cardiac arrest.”
