Wedding Guests Die, Others Injured In Jigawa Road Accident

Two persons have been confirmed dead after a boat with thirteen passengers capsized in Dabi village area of Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Naija News reports that the chairman of the affected LGA, Shehu Sule Udi, confirmed the incident to newsmen, revealing that the accident happened on Sunday evening.

He said the victims were on their way to a condolence visit from Dabi to Siyango village.

Udi added that only seven bodies had been recovered, while the remaining six are still missing.

Confirming the boat accident, the Jigawa Police Command Public Relations Officer, Lawan Shiisu Adam said the search and rescue team was launched with the assistance of local divers, adding that seven people were recovered in the process, while the remaining six are still missing as at the time of filing this report.

Two out of the seven recovered victims were confirmed dead by a medical doctor, while the rest five, who are in critical condition, are still receiving medical attention,” he said.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the canoe hit an object and gradually sunk while the occupants drowned.
