The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has contested the results of the governorship election in five local government areas in Jigawa.

Results of the 27 local government areas that make up the state have been announced during the collation that took place in Dutse.

The returning officer Prof. Zaiyan Umar of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi declared APC’s Umar Namadi the winner of the governorship election with a total of 618,449 votes.

However, the PDP rejected some of the LGAs’ results on Sunday evening, according to Mr Aminu Abubakar, a PDP representative at the State Collecting Center.

The LGAs include Kazaure, Yankwashi, Birnin Kudu, Gwaram, and Dutse.

Abubakar accused INEC of reversing more than 22 polling unit results in the PDP candidate’s home district, Birnin Kudu LGA, in an “unjustified” manner.

He went on to say that there were “a lot of abnormalities” in the results in the five LGAs and requested the returning officer to declare those areas’ results inconclusive.

The PDP agent asserted that the aberrations that took place in some areas were intentional because those areas served as the party’s strongholds.
