Plateau: Gunmen Abduct Local Government Chairman

The Executive Chairman, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Henry Gotip has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

Naija News reports that the gunmen stormed the residence of Gotip at Kwang in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, shot sporadically before whisking him away.

Gotip who is said to be the Secretary of ALGON, Plateau State was taken to an unknown destination and the family is yet to establish contact with the abductors.

Confirming the development to Daily Sun, Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Plateau State Police Command, Alfred Alabo said that a tactical team has been dispatched by the police command to embark on a search to ensure the chairman returns unhurt.

He further explained the force received a signal that there was a robbery gang operating along the area on Wednesday which took the intervention of the security, but later they were later informed that a Council Chairman was kidnapped.

“The Police Commissioner is on top of the situation as he has sent a team of police officers to the area who are working in collaboration with the vigilante to rescue the Council Chairman.”

He urged the public to go about their lawful businesses and report any suspicious movement around their communities for a swift response from the security agencies.
