Police Arrest Fake UN Doctor At Abuja National Hospital

The Federal Capital Territory command of the Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of one Obiako Chukwuemeka parading himself as a medical doctor.

The individual was said to have disguised as a medical practitioner working with the United Nations as a humanitarian aid at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Naija News understands that Chukwuemeka is currently being grilled by the security operatives while the force plan to charge him to court soon as it is done with investigations.

A source from the command had told newsmen that the suspect’s state of origin, age and other important details are yet to be uncovered.

He is, however, in detention pending his arraignment. “The National Hospital Abuja, handed over a fake doctor, one Obiako Chukwuemeka who disguised as a UN doctor on humanitarian aid, to the police at Central Police Station on Thursday.

“He is currently in our custody, and will soon be charged to court,” The PUNCH quoted the police source as saying.

Doctors Set To Go On Strike, Issue Ultimatum To Government

Last month, medical doctors in Nigeria under the aegis of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), threatened to go on strike if the government fails to meet their demands.

The decision was made known to newsmen by the president of the association, Dr Godiya Ishaya who spoke at the end of their Extraordinary National Executive Council (E-NEC) Meeting in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

Addressing a press conference to that effect, Ishaya pointed out that they are giving the federal and concerned state governments a two-week ultimatum to resolve the issues before declaring a strike action.

Some of the complaints by NARD include the demand for the payment of the 2022 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) in full to members using the old template, while the shortfalls, using the reviewed template, be computed and incorporated into the 2023 budget and paid in arrears, Naija News understands.
