Naira Marley’s Former Lawyer Convicted

The former lawyer representing Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, Taiwo Oreagba has been convicted for soliciting an N4 million bribe.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja High Court in Lagos sentenced Oreagba to two years imprisonment.

Oreagba formerly represented Naira Marley in a suit filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The lawyer was found guilty following a recording where she that she would bribe EFCC officials to get a soft landing for her client, Kelechi Uka.

Justice Taiwo also discharged Oreagba on the second count of obtaìninng money by false pretence.

Oreagba was condemned by the judge for trying to influence law enforcement officers and cases assigned to judges in the Lagos State Judiciary.

The lawyer was arraigned on the 12th of November by the EFCC before Justice Sherifah Solebo of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja on corrupt demand and obtaining by false pretence charges.

The convict was then a counsel to Uka who was under EFCC investigation.

She collected the money from one Henry Umoh through her business name, Bobcom Enterprises.
