Explosion Rocks Kogi Govt Office Complex

An explosion on Tuesday rocked the office of the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr Folashade Arike Ayoade.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Edward Egbuka who confirmed the development to Punch, revealed that a package like a bomb was spotted on the premises of the office.

According to Egbuka, the bomb disposal unit was deployed to the office premises which is next to Lugard street, housing the Kogi State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists secretariat.

He noted that the explosion heard was the handwork of the bomb disposing unit deployed to the office.

Naija News learnt that the explosion was heard around 8:30 while journalists were preparing for the day’s assignment.

Egbuka while narrating what happened said, “Yes, what happened was that we were informed of a package that looked like a bomb was left on the premises and I immediately deployed the bomb disposal unit there to assess the object.

“The object was immediately blown up. The explosion you heard was the handwork of our bomb disposing unit brought about by their efforts to blow up the object.”

He further stated that an investigation has commenced to ascertain what the object was.
