Reduce Ekweremadu's Jail Term - Ohanaeze Ndigbo Begs British High Commissoner

The council of elders of Igbo socio-political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has asked the president of the organization to send legal representation to the former Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu’s trial in London.

In a letter titled Travail of our illustrious son Senator Ike Ekweremadu” and addressed to senate president Ahmad Lawan the group insisted that it was ready to defend any honest and patriotic citizen whose right and freedom is being unduly trampled upon anywhere in the world.”

The Chairman, Council of Elders of the body, Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu expressed delight at how the trial of Ekweremadu and his wife was unfolding so far, saying the truth is unfolding.

The statement read in part, “We do not have any doubt whatsoever that the truth will emerge and our son and his wife will be vindicated. We are however happy and profoundly appreciative of your solidarity to your dear colleague and friend during this trying period”.

The elders also prayed for divine healing on the ailing daughter of Ekweremadu.
