The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will today submit the names of the nominees for the Vice President slot to its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, for consideration.

Sources close to the party informed THISDAY that the PDP National Working Committee, NWC, would submit the three names to Atiku in order to choose his preferred candidate.

The sources added that the names of the nominees were chosen by the PDP Advisory Committee set up to assist Atiku to choose a running mate.

Naija News gathered that the PDP NWC will be meeting this afternoon to decide on the recommendations made by the various consultative committees set up to select a vice-presidential candidate for the party.

It is understood that the committee had voted in favour of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to emerge as Atiku’s running mate.

It was gathered that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Udom Emmanuel came second and third respectively in the vote.

The opposition PDP, based on the timetable by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is expected to submit the name of its presidential candidate and his running mate on or before Friday, June 17, 2022.

Recall that the National Chairman of the opposition party, Senator Iyiochia Ayu, had on Tuesday said that the PDP and Atiku would present a running mate Nigerians would relate well with and vote into office.

Ayu said this in his opening remarks at the meeting with members of the PDP Advisory Committee set up to assist Atiku to choose a running mate.

The PDP chairman had said the former Vice President wrote a letter to the National Working Committee (NWC) on the choice of his running mate.
