Nnamdi Kanu: Buhari Meets Ohanaeze, South East Leaders

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in a closed-door meeting with the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and some South-East leaders.

Naija News gathered that the meeting is to discuss the potential release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the security situation in the South East and the Igbo presidency.

The meeting is currently taking place at the New Exco Chambers, Ebonyi Government House Abakaliki to discuss these issues relating to the region.

It was learned that the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, George Obiozor, is leading the Igbo socio-cultural group and other leaders in the region to the meeting.

While Governor David Umahi, who is also Chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, is representing the South-East governors at the meeting.

The meeting comes months after some Igbo leaders led by a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, met with Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

The leaders called for a political solution to Kanu’s trial and the insecurity issue in the South East, describing the situation in the region as “painful and pathetic.

The former minister asked the President to withdraw the military from the South East and he will ensure Kanu does not contravene the laws of the country.
