Reason Why EFCC Arrested Obiano At Lagos Airport Revealed

The reason the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Lagos airport has been revealed.

Recall that Obiano was picked up on Thursday at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Thursday night around 8.30pm on his way to the United States.

According to Channels Television, Obiano was quizzed by the anti-graft agency for allegedly mismanaging over N17 billion Paris Club refund and security vote.

The former Anambra governor was alleged to have misappropriated over N6bn from the second tranche of the Paris Club refund and reportedly inflated the cost of projects in the state including the Umueri International Airport project.

According to the report, Obiano was accused of using the airport project to launder and siphon money from the state coffers and misappropriated security votes meant for the state.
