Drug Trafficking: Take Responsibility For Abba Kyari's Mess - Pyrates Charges Buhari

Reports have emerged about President Muhammadu Buhari’s anger and disgust over attempts to shield embattled suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari by police top brass.

Naija News reports that Abba Kyari and other suspects which include ACP Sunday J. Ubua, ASP Bawa James, Inspector Simon Agirgba and Inspector John Nuhu are currently cooling off in the custody of the National Drug Law enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following accusation of trafficking cocaine.

Source revealed to Daily Trust that top police officers, including retired senior officers made efforts to give Abba Kyari a soft-landing following his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI) in a $1.1 million fraud involving Abbas Ramon, aka Hushpuppi.

Recall that the Police Panel set up to probe Abba Kyari had recommended that the embattled super cop should be demoted and reprimanded.

The recommendations was however rejected by the Police Service Commission (psc) who asked that further probe should be carried out.

One source disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari was disgusted over the development.

“Beyond the president, the diplomatic community is also dismayed,” another source said, adding that “There is serious pressure all over to bring all those that have hand in the drug deal and other infractions to book.”

The source said “Initially, they were saying Kyari knows a lot about Nigeria’s inner security architecture and therefore they should be allowed to deal with whatever allegations were levelled against him.

“However, when the NDLEA went public with what they have, the police handed him over. The apparent delay did not cast the police establishment in good light.”

Abba Kyari Makes More Revelation As NDLEA Begins Forensic Analysis

Meanwhile, DCP Abba Kyari may spend more days in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as a result of revelations he made.

It was gathered that the anti-narcotics agency had approached a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking permission to detain Abba Kyari and other suspects beyond the stipulated 48 hours sanctioned by Nigerian law.

A source in the NDLEA stated that revelations made by the embattled super cop would have to be investigated which would delay his arrangement.

Kyari has made some revelations which will lead to more investigations. Also, the NDLEA is doing a forensic analysis of some of the cocaine recovered by Kyari since he claimed in a video that he replaced cocaine with a dummy one,” the source told The PUNCH.

“So, the agency has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja notifying the court of our intention to interrogate him further and verify some of his claims.”
