Shehu Sani Reacts As Buhari Govt Set To Ban Ponmo

Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has applauded the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appointing Emmanuel Amuneke new head coach of the Super Eagles.

In a tweet via his Twitter page on Tuesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also commended the NFF for retaining Augustine Eguavoen as the Interim Technical Adviser of the team.

Sani said the appointment and the retention of both former players is a step in the right direction ahead of the World Cup qualification match between Nigeria and Ghana.

The governorship aspirant in Kaduna State added that the appointment is a challenge for both Amuneke and Eguavoen to ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

He wrote: “The retention of @NGSuperEagles coach Austin Eguavoen and the appointment of Amunike to handle the team by the@thenff is a step in the right direction. This is a challenge for both to ensure the team qualify for the
@FIFAWorldCup. We must not fail!

Recall that the NFF in a statement by its General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, had announced that Amuneke will take over from Eguavoen as the new head coach of the national team.

Sanusi said the development was part of moves to reconstitute the technical committee of the national team.

He said Amuneke was appointed in view of the positive performance of the Super Eagles at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations which has given hope to Nigerians and boosted the confidence in the present coaching crew to qualify Nigeria for the World Cup in Qatar.

The NFF scribe disclosed that Salisu Yusuf will be the 2nd Assistant Coach/Chief Coach of the CHAN team and Joseph Yobo will be 3rd Assistant while Aloysius Agu remains the Goalkeepers’ Trainer.
