The Department of State Services, DSS, has alert security agencies in Kaduna State over the influx of Boko Haram leaders and their soldiers into Southern Kaduna from Sambisa forest.
According to a memo by the DSS, security agencies were urged to step up surveillance and intelligence gathering” in the state.
The secret police revealed that Boko Haram terrorists have relocated from Sambisa forest in Borno state to Rijana forest in Chikun local government area of Kaduna.
The memo sighted by Peoples Gazette stated that a “senior Boko Haram fighter, Ibrahim (FNU) alongside his foot soldiers” were relocating to join their counterpart “under the leadership of one Adamu Yunusu (aka Saddiqu)”
The DSS ordered the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to increase security measures in the “aforementioned areas and envions,” and that operatives of the corps “should be placed on alert and report accordingly.”
According to the memo, the NSCDC has been “directed to step up surveillance and intelligence gathering on the aforementioned areas and environs.”
Meanwhile, as bandits terrorizing Zamfara State have been fleeing the security measures taken against them by the government and the ongoing military operation, their kingpins are boasting about remaining in their strongholds regardless.
According to the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, the barrage of attacks on bandits by security forces have made them to make a fresh overture to his government, seeking dialogue which would not be granted.
Naija News recalls that the Federal Government had shut down phone network while the state government closed some markets that operated on a weekly basis.
Many attest that the security measures so far taken have been successful to a large extent as some of the bandits were running out of Zamfara to other states.
Governor Matawalle, who ruled out the option of dialogue, said emissaries of bandits have informed him that they had repented and would want to dialogue with the government.
