Three Injured As Another NPFL Club Suffers Auto Crash [Photos]

A player and two officials of Akwa United Football Club have been injured in a fatal accident along the Ezionye Expressway in Enugu State.

According to a statement via its official Twitter handle on Friday, the club said the accident occurred when the team bus had a head-on collision with a trailer on the expressway.

The statement said the team was traveling to Kaduna to honour Nigeria Professional Football League Match Day 15 against Jigawa Golden Stars.

The club said the three persons who were seriously injured have been taken to the hospital for proper examination and treatment.

The tweet read: “We have been involved in an accident along Ezionye Express road in Enugu on our way to Kaduna for our NPFL Match-day 15 game against Jigawa Golden Stars. Players and officials have sustained injuries. One player and two officials have been taken to the hospital.”

Last month, another NPFL side, Wiki tourist bus was also involved in an accident as their players were on their way to honour a game.
