Fuel Subsidy: Falana Reacts As NLC Plans To Embark On Nationwide Strike

Human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN) has filed a suit against the National Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) amid coronavirus virus in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that Falana dragged NCDC to court over the centre’s failure to establish a functional centre for the detection, prevention and control of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Cross River and Kogi states.

This online news platform understands that the fundamental human rights suit filed by Falana through an Originating Motion on Notice dated September 1, was brought pursuant to Section 33 (1) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and Article 4 and 16 of the African Charter on Human Rights Ratification and Peoples Rights Ratification and Enforcement Act LFN 2010 and Order 11 Order X1 and X11 of the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedures Rules 2009.

The human rights activist filed the suit for himself and on behalf of the members of the Alliance on Surviving COVID -19 and beyond. The NCDC is the sole respondent in the suit.
