Yahaya Bello Speaks After Supreme Court Affirmed Him As Kogi State Governor

The Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has reacted to Monday’s Supreme Court ruling which affirmed him as duly elected for a second term in office.

Bello who won the November 16 governorship polls in Kogi State with 406,222 votes to defeat all other candidates was also on Monday, unanimously affirmed as duly elected by a seven-man panel of the Supreme Court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad.

Naija News recalls Bello contested and won on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Apex court in its ruling dismissed all the five appeals filed before the court by the PDP and its governorship candidate, Musa Wada, who jointly filed the appeal as well as that of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Natasha Akpoti for lack of merit.

Reacting to Monday’s affirmation by the apex court, Governor Yahaya Bello, said the ruling is an affirmation of the landmark victory entrusted to him by the people of Kogi State at the November 16, 2019 polls.

In a statement by Onogwu Muhammed, Chief Press Secretary, (CPS) to the governor, Bello explained further that the decision of the tribunal, appeal court, and then the Supreme Court to dismiss all petitions against his victory is a pointer to the fact that the people of Kogi State truly elected him as their leader.

He assured that his administration will continue to do more for the people of the state in line with his campaign promises.

The Governor called on the other parties in the state as well as their candidates to join hands with him in the task of governance and building the state to greater heights.
