AKK Project: President Buhari’s Full Speech At The Flag-Off Ceremony

Given an update on the flag-off event which was held this morning at Ajaokuta in Kogi State, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi confirmed that the virtual meeting was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The Presidency on Tuesday, June 30 held a virtual meeting at the statehouse for the president flag-off of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, Naija News understands.

Given an update on the flag-off event which was held this morning at Ajaokuta in Kogi State, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi confirmed that the virtual meeting was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Chairing the meeting, President Buhari stated that the project is dear to the people of Nigeria and it must succeed. According to the president, the government owes its citizens a responsibility which must be carried out to prepare them for what the future holds.

The president assures Nigerians that though infrastructural development could be difficult to achieve at times, however, his administration remains committed to ensure that the AKKProject among others are put in place as it is a cardinal priority for the NEXT LEVEL administration.

President Buhari’s statement during the flag-off reads; “This landmark project is being developed to increase our critical infrastructure assets. We want to use this milestone project to promote the use of gas in the domestic market, and industrialize & energize the entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerians.”

“AKKProject will have Immeasurable cascading effect on the Nigerian economy: industries, jobs, skills, tech transfer, local manufacturing. This project is part of our NEXT LEVEL Agenda. We are creating opportunities for our people.”

“We owe our people the responsibility of preparing them for what the future holds. Time is short, we can no longer afford to be incremental in our approach. Infrastructural development, although long, tedious and complex remains a cardinal priority for our administration as we pursue a more prosperous future for Nigeria.”

“#AKKProject will provide gas not only for power generation but also gas-based industries: new industries and the revival of moribund industries, in Kogi, FCT, Kaduna and Kano States.”

Also connected to the virtual meeting are State Governors, Ministers, Service Chiefs, and other senior Government officials each from their various offices, Naija News learnt.
