A report has emerged, suggesting that three governors who are against the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, have backed Governor Godwin Obaseki‘s alleged plan to move to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News understands that several reports on Friday evening alleged that that Governor Obaseki has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after he was disqualified by the screening committee and had since joined the opposition PDP, with the hope of flying the party’s flag for the Edo 2020 election.

Although Obaseki is yet to issue a statement regarding his alleged defection to the PDP and the plan to run for a second term in office on the platform of the main opposition party in the state, a report filed by Vanguard Newspaper, however, said there is a sharp division among the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State over plans by Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state to defect to the party and clinch the ticket to contest the September 19, 2020 governorship election.

The report which said Obaseki would be having a meeting with the leadership of the PDP would involve all the local government area chairmen of the party and other leaders of the party, added that three PDP Governors in the South-South who are said to have issues with Oshiomhole are ready to support Obaseki.

According to the report, the PDP Governors are ready to support Obaseki to win the election and bring back Edo into PDP, in what is seen as a “direct attack” on APC National Chairman.

Meanwhile, there were indications that the Edo State Governor would address the press later today after his meeting but a source told Vanguard that: “he met with his team and all the issues were laid on the table, they agreed that he should consider all the available alternative political parties to consider which one to go”
