A Paraguayan warden, Blas Vera, has spoken on former Barcelona player, Ronaldinho‘s presence in the prison after his arrest.

Naija News had earlier reported that Ronaldinho and his brother Roberto were arrested last week Wednesday for allegedly using false documentation upon their arrival in Paraguayan capital Asuncion.

The Brazilian legend noted that they travelled to Paraguay for business reasons and the passports were given to them as a gift by a Brazilian businessman, Wilmondes Sousa Liria, who has been jailed.

The 39-year-old and his brother were taken in handcuffs to a courthouse in Paraguay over the weekend, while prosecutors are seeking to extend their detention in prison.

However, the defence counsel, Sergio Queiroz, noted that the former footballer and his brother should be granted bail because they are not a threat or flight risk.

Vera in his statement noted that Ronaldinho is doing well in the prison.

He said, “In broad terms, Ronaldinho is doing very well”.

“He is in good spirits and always smiling just like you see him on television.”
