Grammy Winner, Angelique Kidjo Meets Asa In Lagos At Smooth FM

2020 Grammy award winner, Angelique Kidjo has made another appearance in Lagos, Nigeria, after about three decades of her first visit, Naija News understands.

The 59-year-old Cotonou born singer is currently in Lagos State, Nigeria for an interview at Smooth FM.

Angelique while exchanging pleasantries with the staff of the Smooth FM studio, spoke in the Yoruba language in amazement.

It was all joy when Nigerian singer, Asa appeared in the studio also, both jumped on each other with warm hugs that took a while before they separated.

Angelique with smiles also complimenting Asa’s footwear as they relate to each other in the Yoruba language.

Naija News understands that Angelique Kidjo will be performing live in Lagos, Nigeria during the visit.

“This is my first time in Lagos… My first time playing in Lagos. The last time I was here was in ’73. I left here at 13 years old,” said Angelique.

According to the singer, her father was “too afraid” of her mum to bring her here because he feared if she comes here, she won’t want to go back to resume school.
