The Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL) has condemned recent threats to allegedly destroy Igbo properties by a group called the Concerned Niger Delta Youths.
Naija News reports that the Niger Delta group was alleged to have made the threats after members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) attacked the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, in Madrid, Spain.
However, Amaechi stated that IPOB did not succeed in attacking him as Spanish authorities stop the situation from escalating.
In a statement signed by Deputy Leader 1, Ebuta Takon and Chief of Staff of the group, Linus Essien, BNYL slammed the Niger Delta group for asking Igbo people to apologies to Rotimi Amaechi over the attack.
According to the pro-Biafra group, other section of the Niger Delta were not part of the threat.
It reminded the aggrieved Niger Delta youths of their Igbo names and the Igbo related languages which they speak in Rivers State.
BNYL said: “We advise them to channel their strength to the Fulani herdsmen if they have the power, not hiding in one room to issue threats in the name of all Niger Deltans, it baffles us that those issuing the threats do not even know that they are part of Igbo tribe, Amaechi himself has made so many public appearance declaring that he is a proud Igbo, even his brother was Ohanaeze Secretary, so IPOB attacks him it is because he is an Igboman like Senator Ike Ekweremadu”.
“No Bakassi man was there, no Ejagham man was there, not even an Ibibio man was there, I did not read any statement from Ijaw, or Urhobo on the issue, even Amaechi has dismissed rumours of his alleged attack, so they are own their own, we are not part of them, and our members and followers in Niger Delta are not among them” the group stated.
