EFCC Arraigns Ex-Vice Chancellor For Alleged Fraud Of N70 Million

A former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi has been arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC over alleged N70 million fraud.

The University Don Prof Emmanuel Kucha was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Makurdi, Benue State’s capital on a four-count charge of conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds, abuse of office and gratification where he pleaded innocence on all four-count charges.

Naija News learnt that Kucha committed the offense while serving as a public officer at the university between 2012 and 2017 and was accused of collecting bribe in the course of performing his official duties.

It was gathered that the money was paid into his Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) Account No: 0124395144, contravening Section 18(c) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Act, 2000.

Kucha was granted bail of the sum of N10 million with one surety who must be a public servant with the federal or Benue State Government on Grade Level 17.

The court then ordered that the former Vice-Chancellor should remain in EFCC’s custody till he meets the bail conditions.

The court then adjourning the case till January 5 for trial.
